New Display at Leamington Library – is this the end of the book!?

E-books versus “real” books - a new display at Leamington site library looks at some of the pros and cons. Online reading certainly opens up a world of possibilities, but one thing an e-book could never be is an object of desire! Ever since books began people have been collecting them for their own sake, and one example is the fashion for black-and-white illustrations in the 1920s and 30s. With its engravings or wood-cuts, the look of the book was the important thing - it didn’t really matter what the book was about! These books were so popular that large numbers were printed, but they are collectors’ items today. There is one of these vintage books to be won in our simple competition open to all students - have a look at the display to find out how to enter!

New Equine Book at Moreton Morrell, Come and Have a Look!

THE NATIONAL EQUESTRIAN SURVEY – 2011

The latest edition of the National Equestrian Survey, commissioned by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), conducted by Sportswise is now available in the library. It uses accurate statistics and reliable data to provide an insight into the ownership, use and costs that are associated within the equine industry in Great Britain.

This is a Reference Book which can be used for research within the library and can be located at the library counter.

Pershore College @ Malvern Spring Show

Motor vehicle DVDs @ Trident Library

Another resource to supplement your motor vehicle and engineering studies. Here at Trident we have a wide range of DVDs on topics from non destructive testing to exploring the key stages of the production process in the Mini factory. We are sure you will find something to help. Have a night in with a DVD and learn at the same time.

We are currently displaying some of the titles available. Why not pop in and have a browse.

DVDs can be borrowed for a week’s loan and reserved online from any site. Ask Library staff for details.

Is the grass growing under your feet?

Check out the latest (2011) edition of Improved grassland management by John Frame and A.S. Laidlaw which is now available in the library at Moreton Morrell.

Topics covered include:

sward management for grazing by ruminants and horses
hay and silage making
soils, fertility and nutrients
identification and characteristics of grass and forage legume varieties
plant breeding, seed production and choosing seed mixtures
climate

This book is on the recommended reading lists for level 2 and level 3 Agriculture students.
