It’s here – the new way to search the Library’s resources!

Libraries > Search the Library Collection

The Library’s new one-stop search tool allows users search the Library’s entire collection of resources in one place, including the library catalogue, e-books and journals, as well as e-journal articles available through academic research databases. Our customised tabbed search box gives you the option to search across all of the online resources that we subscribe to using the Discovery tab. Should you want to just search for resources within the Libraries, such as books, or want to look up a specific online resource to search exclusively, you have the option to use the Library Catalogue tab.

From the results list, you can refine your search using the menus on the left of the screen, for example, to limit to a particular library site/location or material/source type. At the top of results lists, you are often given a Research Starter for your search term, consisting of an encyclopedic extract for those who might just want an overview of a topic – a much better option than Wikipedia!

Renewing and reserving can still be done through the My Account link on Libraries homepage, or you can reserve items by clicking on the Check Availability link for items on results lists.

For any help using our new platform, please contact the library or ask a member of staff.
